Terms of use.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of CouchBumming, including its public prototype, website, and any related renter-search tools (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service does
CouchBumming is designed to help renters organize publicly available listing information, notice possible price movement or vacancy signals, compare apparent duplicates, and draft negotiation ideas. The current interface uses seeded demonstration data and is not a live housing marketplace, application platform, or credit-reporting service.
2. Informational use only
The Service provides general informational assistance. It does not provide legal, financial, credit, real-estate, housing, tax, or fair-housing advice. Any listing history, price comparison, application-path label, or negotiation brief may be incomplete, delayed, estimated, or wrong. You are responsible for independently verifying material facts with the relevant property owner, manager, listing source, or qualified professional before applying, signing a lease, paying money, or making another housing decision.
CouchBumming does not guarantee housing availability, rent, approval, savings, credit treatment, safety, habitability, or a negotiation outcome.
3. Fair and lawful use
You may use the Service only for lawful, personal rental-search purposes. You may not use it to discriminate, harass, violate another person’s privacy, evade a listing platform’s terms, interfere with the Service, reverse engineer it, introduce harmful code, or use automated means to access it without written permission.
4. Listing and third-party information
Listings, sources, and linked services may be owned or operated by third parties. CouchBumming does not control, endorse, or guarantee third-party content or services. Your use of a third-party site or decision to contact a landlord or property manager is governed by that party’s own terms and policies.
5. Your responsibilities
Do not submit sensitive information—such as Social Security numbers, financial-account details, government ID numbers, or credit-report data—through the current prototype. If future features allow you to submit content, you remain responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide it and that it is accurate and lawful.
6. Intellectual property
The CouchBumming name, logo, interface, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, CouchBumming grants you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service or its content.
7. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, including a prototype feature, at any time. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every device or browser.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. CouchBumming disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, accuracy, and availability.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CouchBumming and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, housing opportunities, or other losses arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Service and is incorporated into these Terms.
10. Changes and contact
We may revise these Terms by posting an updated version on this page. Your continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept them. For questions about these Terms, email hello@couchbumming.com.
