Privacy, plainly put.
CouchBumming is a renter-first rental search assistant. This policy explains the information practices for the publicly available CouchBumming prototype and any future CouchBumming service that links to this policy.
1. The current prototype
The current CouchBumming prototype does not require an account, ask you to submit personal information, use advertising trackers, or intentionally store your search, saved listings, or interactions after you leave or refresh the page. The listings and renter profile displayed in the prototype are seeded demonstration data.
The prototype may use temporary in-browser state to make the interface work during your visit. That state is not designed to be sent to CouchBumming or retained after a refresh.
2. Information processed when you visit
Like most internet services, the infrastructure that delivers the site may process limited technical information in request and security logs, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, and timestamps. We use this information only to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We do not use it for behavioral advertising or sell it.
Our hosting, security, and delivery providers may handle this information on our behalf under their own service terms and privacy commitments.
3. Public listing information
CouchBumming may display and analyze publicly available rental-listing information, including advertised rent, availability, amenities, source, and observed listing history. This is property and market information, not a dossier about an individual renter. We do not scrape private accounts, credit reports, or application files through the current prototype.
4. Future account and assistant features
Before CouchBumming launches features that collect or retain your account details, search history, saved listings, messages, or other personal information, we will update this policy and provide notice at or before collection. Any future AI-generated rental or negotiation brief will be presented as informational assistance, not as a guarantee or professional advice.
5. How we share information
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If CouchBumming later processes personal information to operate an account-based service, we may use carefully selected service providers for hosting, database storage, security, and AI processing solely to provide and protect the service, subject to appropriate contractual safeguards.
6. Retention and security
Because the current prototype does not intentionally retain user-provided personal information, there is no user profile or search-history record for us to delete. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the service. No internet service can promise absolute security.
7. Your choices and requests
You may choose not to use the prototype. If you believe CouchBumming holds personal information about you, or have a privacy question or request, email hello@couchbumming.com. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. California residents may have additional privacy rights under applicable law; this policy does not limit those rights.
8. Children
CouchBumming is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service or our information practices change. We will post the revised policy here and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes to a future account-based service will be communicated as required by applicable law.
